GET TO KNOW ME

My name is Julia. I am a Registered Midwife, Nurse, a passionate educator and a mother of two.

Working for many years as a birth suite Midwife I always felt that women who attended the HypnoBirthing® course had something special. They seemed calm, in control and went on to have gentle births. It wasn't until I completed the course myself in 2018 whilst pregnant with my first child that I came to understand just how these women were preparing for and achieving their beautiful births.

I believe that birth matters- the way a woman feels about her birth experience can have an enormous impact on her postpartum experience and I truly believe that the HypnoBirthing® course has the power to transform your birth. Research shows that currently, one in three women would describe their birthing experience as traumatic. This was ultimately the reason why I became a certified HypnoBirthing® educator- to help change the current birth culture here in Australia. I want all women to emerge from their births feeling like I did- powerful, energised and strong and I know that preparing for your birth using the HypnoBirthing® course can help you to do this.

HypnoBirthing® is not about training mothers how to give birth or about giving birth in a particular way. Over the five sessions I will guide and support you and your birth companion as you gain knowledge and practical skills so that you can decide on your personal birth preferences, advocate for yourselves and your baby and enter your birth feeling calm and confident. My goal is to make sure that you feel calm, positive, safe and supported during the most important and exciting experience of your life, regardless of the way your birth plays out.

Why learn with me?

I have been a midwife for almost ten years and have supported hundreds of women as they welcome their babies into the world. I have previously taught hospital based antenatal classes in both Private and Public hospitals, and currently work as a Midwife giving me an up to date knowledge of the the maternity system as well as the latest research, policies and procedures.

I know that birth doesn't have to be scary and traumatic.  Birth can be transformative, beautiful and gratifying- I have seen it for so many women and I have experienced it for myself. Come and learn with me and let me help you to experience it too.

Although the popularly desired outcome is 'healthy mother, healthy baby’, I think there is room in that equation for ‘happy, non-traumatized, empowered and elated mother and baby
